Restorative justice, defined as a process in which all parties involved in a particular offense work together to solve problems and address future implications, resonates strongly with the values and practices of dispute resolution within various indigenous communities across the Indonesian archipelago. This study employed normative legal research methods. The results indicate that customary law has a significant and constructive influence on the development of restorative justice in resolving minor crimes in Indonesia. The values of deliberation, restoration of harmony, and social reintegration espoused by customary law have enriched and provided a strong cultural foundation for restorative justice practices. This integration of local wisdom can make the legal process more meaningful, expeditious, and effective for grassroots communities.
